About Us
Marubeni Techno-Systems America, Inc. began as a business group within the U.S. operation of Marubeni Corporation (Tokyo) back in 1980’s. The goal of the operation was to supply and support equipment used for the manufacturing of a new audio media, the Compact Disc.
The Compact Disc gave rise to a new industry, Optical Disc Manufacturing, which grew exponentially. Marubeni’s Optical Disc operation grew along with the industry, establishing itself as the leader in the industry.
As the optical industry embraced the new optical disc media format, DVD, Marubeni Disc Systems, Inc. (MDS) was formally formed on April 1, 1997 to support the optical disc industry and the new video format.
Using expertise gained from the CD manufacturing, as well as integrating new technologies available from manufacturers, the newly formed MDS quickly became the leader of DVD manufacturing as well.
In May 2007, MDS took leadership in the new Blu-ray optical disc format by introducing a 50GB dual layer Blu-ray disc production line to begin production of new Blu-ray discs at a customer’s site.
Technical innovation by manufacturers and the ability of MDS to integrate the systems proved to be the a key factor once again.
On Feburuary 15, 2008, the company name was changed to Marubeni Techno-Systems America, Inc. (MTSA) to reflect diversification from the optical disc industry to other technical and production industries.
As a result of introduction of new products, combined with our experience in the optical disc industry, MTSA is now in position to be the prime solution provider for the markets we serve.
