Blu-ray PTM
The PTR-3000 by Sony utilizes one of the most important technologies developed for Blu-ray production.
Phase Transition Mastering (PTM) technology uses specially developed inorganic resist material and a 405nm laser beam to encode pits onto the wafer. The metal stamper made from electroplating the wafer becomes the master for the discs to be replicated on the replication lines.
The PTR-3000 is a self-contained unit, with all required components built in. The operation of the entire process is very simple, requiring no operator input once the order is set up. The operator only returns to the machine to remove the finished product. This ease of use, and high throughput will allow very high productivity of Blu-ray masters.
The precision required to put 50 GB of data onto one 120mm disc is very important, and only PTR-3000 has achieved the required accuracy with a consistent basis.
In fact, almost all Blu-ray discs sold in the market at this time were mastered on the PTR-3000. The PTR-3000 is an essential part of setting up manufacturing of Blu-ray discs.
